Jacksonville ISD School Health Services partnered with local hospitals and other community health agencies to host Jacksonville's first Family Walk Night at Nichols Green Park Tuesday Night. The event promoted family activity and fun. The event had an outstanding turnout with 2,233 registered walkers.
Eastside Elementary school had the highest percentage of registered walkers and won $400 for their school PE Department. All the elementary schools won money for their PE departments.
Many prizes were given out as participants walked during the event including bicycles, donated by Discount City and Wal-Mart of Jacksonville, won by one lucky walker from each elementary campus.
April is National Walk America month, Turn off your TV month, and Child Abuse Awareness month. This event underscores JISD's commitment to promote healthy lifestyles for our students and their families.
