Jacksonville High School Library

JHS Library Purpose

The library program at Jacksonville High School provides materials and services that complement and parallel all phases of the curriculum meeting the informational needs, interests, and abilities of students and staff, and encourages the lifelong enjoyment of reading.

JHS Library

The Jacksonville High School Library has an up-to-date collection of books—fiction, non-fiction, and reference materials. The library subscribes to twenty-five magazines. Nine computers are available for student research with a computer lab adjoining the library. Students have access to high-quality databases including magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias, literary references and various other topics. All databases including the library’s online catalog are accessible from home computers using the school’s login and password. The school's login and password are available from the library staff.

Library Staff

Mrs. Betty Gracie is a certified librarian and also a certified English teacher. Mrs. Janet Miller is the library assistant—both full-time personnel.

JHS Library Policy

Check-out: Books are checked out for a three week period and may be renewed. Up to three books at one time may be checked out.

Fees: Overdue books are fined five cents per day—no charge over weekends and holidays. Students who owe fines may not check out books until they have paid their fine.

Printing: Students may print from the computer and use the copy machine—each page is five cents. No charge for finished reports.
