Employee Breakfast, Convocation
Start Staff on Great New Year
August 24, 2007

Convocation is an assembly at the beginning of something new. At JISD, convocation is a time to reinforce to our staff at the beginning of the school year the importance of helping to prepare our students for a positive and successful future.

This year the event, held at Jacksonville High School, began with a breakfast and time of fellowship for all district employees.

The meeting then convened to the JHS Auditorium where Deena Ebbert, Fish! Philosopher, introduced the staff to the Fish! Philosophy. The exciting and positive concepts were outlined as embodied in the four statements of the Fish! Philosophy:
1) Be There
2) Play
3) Make Their Day
4) Choose Your Attitude
By embracing these simple but dynamic concepts, and encouraging them in our teaching and support staff, JISD believes it has taken a bold step in the direction of improving the lives of our students and our community as a whole.
