21st Century Teaching

Jacksonville ISD announced at the May 19th school board meeting that Katina Chase of Nichols Intermediate has been named the recipient of the 21st Century Teaching Award for May 2008. Mrs. Chase has been a teacher’s aid with JISD’s 5th and 6th graders for the last 10 years. She is currently serving as the Technology Applications teacher at Nichols Intermediate. “Mrs. Chase is very thorough in the skills that she is teaching the students,” commented Carol Shields, district Instructional Technologist, "she is preparing them for using the computer as a tool in all of their classes.” This school year she has implemented the new 5th Technology Applications curriculum while serving on the committee to write the curriculum for the 6th grade Technology Applications course. The district appreciates all that Mrs. Chase does for the students at Nichols, helping them to be successful with the use of technology.
